Masterfully designed down to the last detail by celebrated course architects Donald Steel and Tom MacKenzie, the 18-hole championship Golf Course at Luttrellstown Castle Resort is 7,347 naturally-contoured yards of mature parklands, links-style bunkers, water hazards and a state-of-the-art, alpine lodge-style clubhouse, all set within the walls of a centuries-old private estate. The only thing to rival the quality of golf on offer, is the spectacular setting. From the famous River Liffey flowing past the time-worn Doric Temple and boathouse, to the majesty of the towering 15th century Irish castle hiding amongst the trees, it’s a challenge to concentrate on your game when you’re surrounded by such incredible scenery. The Golf Course at Luttrellstown Castle Resort is passionately maintained by a team of expert groundskeepers and professionals. Established in 1913 and designed by the renowned Harry Colt on the beautiful grounds of Rathfarnham Castle, the Castle Golf Club is one of Dublin’s best-kept secrets. Located just 10 km from the city, the picturesque and immaculately presented course, with views of the Dublin mountains is a commanding test of golf for players regardless of ability levels.

Up until 1971 all nine holes in Sutton were located on the clubhouse side of the railway line. New members and visitors shake their heads when they hear this. They are usually told a story that has become embedded in Sutton history. Legend has it that when someone shouted “fore” everyone on the course ducked! The club had spent some time negotiating with Dublin City Council for a large plot of reclaimed land, that had been a dump previously. Eventually the club received a lease and the three new holes that were developed opened in 1971. They have been developed over subsequent years to become three excellent and challenging holes. As might be expected this allowed development of 6 basically new holes on the original footprint of the club. The challenge has remained the same for golfers down through the years. Accuracy is all important - which is why Sutton continues to develop many fine golfers.

Nestled in the heart of North County Dublin, just 12 minutes from Dublin Airport, Donabate Golf Club is proud to celebrate a century of golfing tradition in 2025.
