Up until 1971 all nine holes in Sutton were located on the clubhouse side of the railway line. New members and visitors shake their heads when they hear this. They are usually told a story that has become embedded in Sutton history. Legend has it that when someone shouted “fore” everyone on the course ducked! The club had spent some time negotiating with Dublin City Council for a large plot of reclaimed land, that had been a dump previously. Eventually the club received a lease and the three new holes that were developed opened in 1971. They have been developed over subsequent years to become three excellent and challenging holes. As might be expected this allowed development of 6 basically new holes on the original footprint of the club. The challenge has remained the same for golfers down through the years. Accuracy is all important - which is why Sutton continues to develop many fine golfers.

Set on the grounds of the historic Portmarnock Estate and just steps from the sea, Jameson Golf Links is our very own championship links course, and the proud home course of the Ultimate Irish Jameson Golf Links Experience. Formerly known as Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links, the newly reimagined Jameson Golf Links offers a modern links experience that honours its classic coastal roots. The course was originally designed by Bernhard Langer and Stan Eby in 1995 and has recently undergone a significant transformation, including extensive enhancements to layout, playability, and environmental sustainability. Dramatically routed through rugged dunes and along the Velvet Strand beach, the 18-hole course offers both stunning sea views and strategic shot-making challenges. With rolling fairways, undulating greens, and ever-changing coastal winds, every round is a fresh experience, perfectly blending natural beauty with golfing excellence. Roganstown Hotel & Country Club is home to two 18-hole acclaimed championship golf courses, Swords Open Golf Course and Roganstown Championship Course. Roganstown, designed by the great Christy O’Connor Jnr., is a challenging course set on a beautiful landscape with meandering water hazards adding an aesthetic quality to the course. Roganstown plays as well as it looks with a variety of holes that have been designed to put golfers of all abilities to the test and to maximize your overall golfing experience. Swords Open Golf Course is an 18-hole parkland course on relatively flat terrain. The Broadmeadow River flows through the course and the naturally occurring water has been well used in the design of the course and the provision of strategically placed water hazards and features.
